I’ve Met So Many People And Had So Many Great Memories Because Of YouTube
I count my blessings for that fateful Summer of 2008. It was the Summer that changed it all!
With it being @YouTube’s birthday and all, I though it fitting to watch one of the videos that changed EVERYTHING! @SMOSH & #POKEMON!!!
During the Summer of 2009, many of us met in Portland, Oregon for a weekend of fun that was the Northwest YouTube Gathering. At our height, we were a moveable feast of friends traversing the streets of Portland. And like a small army, we had occupied a mall, a food court, a park, and Powell’s bookstore. This shot of us walking through a crosswalk is a favorite memory of mine from that weekend!
This is my favorite shot from the #NWYTG! That weekend created and cemented so many friendships.

New video!!! It’s a mash up of some of the moments I captured in the past few months!
Friends From The Internet
This week started with friends and it’ll end with friends: friends from the Internet. Last weekend and part of this week, I was in Seattle to hang out with friends and see the VlogBrothers on John Green’s book tour. Yesterday I had the chance to have dinner with Jeff of StudentDotCom and some of the LA crew, I hadn’t seen since before the holiday season. And for both ends of the week, I was thrilled. What crystalized everything was meeting Jeff in person for the first time. It was through his channel that I became friends with all those I hold dear and it was shocking to realize that it was only now - about four years - that I had the chance to meet Jeff.
The chatter last night among friends spread across two tables at Johnny Rockets, made me realize how we are such a special generation of people. Though a mix of age and distance, we’ve come to see that the Internet has brought us together and gone are the days one would fear or be bathed with indignation of “meeting someone from the Internet”.
YouTube Advice from @thatzak
Don’t quit. Simple as that. I’ve seen so many YouTubers waste their potential (including me) by taking long absences from video making. After a long absence, you cannot expect to get the same views, comments, ratings, etc. It just doesn’t happen. I’ve seen so many YouTubers get discouraged and…
